On October 26, we invited Ms. Kaoruko Seki from the United Nations Offices for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). During the first session, the Peace Building study group made a presentation about the implications of SSR for peace building. They explained the ideas of SSR, DDR and the judicial system reform. After presentation, the study group responded to questions and made some comments. In the next session, Ms. Seki made a presentation on UN security sector support and the United Nations police. She explained the role of SSR in peace building conducted by the UN and especially the role of the UN police. The UN has 10 principles, but maintains flexibility in carrying out operations. After the presentation, we exchanges more information and asked questions to which Ms. Seki in detail. (Kana Hashimoto)
