【NEWS】2010.1.21-22 “Professor Hasegawa Conducts Hiroshima Peacebuidling Training”

“Professor Sukehiro Hasegawa made a series of lectures to trainees from Asian, CIS and Middle Eastern countries on January 21 and 22 at the training course organized by the Hiroshima Peacebuilding Center. Trainees came from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, East Timor, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Thailand, Uzbekistan as well as Japan. On the first day, Professor Hasegawa made a detailed presentation on the integrated mission planning process and the electoral process. IMPP is now the central planning tool for the preparation of United Nations peacekeeping and peacebuilding operations. The electoral process is a key component of activities supported by the United Nations in more than 70 countries, particularly in post-conflict countries, to foster democratic governance. On the second day, Professor Hasegawa discussed the theories of justice and rule of law, and how the UN is trying to strengthen the rule of law in post-conflict countries. (Aoi Yokoda)”
