Professor Toshiya Hoshino, President of the Japan Association of United Nations Studies, contributed a book review to the association’s journal Kokuren Kenkyu No. 26, The United Nations and Order Conceptions (pp. 153–157), reviewing Vice President Sukehiro Hasegawa’s book New Challenges in UN Peacebuilding (Soseisha, 2023).
Hoshino comments on Hasegawa’s analysis of UN peacebuilding and Security Council reform from both practitioners’ and scholars’ perspectives. He also discusses Hasegawa’s “two-stage” Security Council reform proposal, presented as a realistic yet far-reaching approach.
