
On June 13, 2026, at the General Assembly of the Japan Association for United Nations Studies held at the University of Tsukuba, Professor Toshiya Hoshino, President of the Association and Board Member of the United Nations Association of Japan, invited Mr. Sukehiro Hasegawa, Vice President of the United Nations Association of Japan, to deliver the keynote address.
In his speech, Mr. Hasegawa reflected on his more than 30-year career with the United Nations and shared his views on the role Japan should play in the international community as the country marks the 70th anniversary of its accession to the United Nations.
At the conclusion of the meeting, he also spoke about the United Nations Choir scheduled to perform this year, as well as the possibility of attracting United Nations agencies to Tokyo, expressing his hopes for further strengthening the relationship between Japan and the United Nations.
