On 15 May 2025, former presidents, former UN Secretaries-General and other senior figures who make up The Elders met non-partisan Diet members of The Japanese Parliamentary Committee for World Federation in the Special Room on Basement Level 1 of the First Members’ Office Building of the House of Representatives. Speaking during the session, Representative Genma stressed that solidarity is indispensable for world peace and that Japan seeks to take the lead in this effort. Reporter: Koki Imon

As many of you have said, we are living at a very important juncture for the international community, and I believe that solidarity is essential if we are to achieve international peace and a stable world order. In this respect, I consider the knowledge and experience of the United States to be indispensable, and Japan intends to play a key role in fostering such solidarity. I hope we can deepen our relationships and learn from the wisdom that the members of The Elders possess.
